Time was passing by and business was running smoothly, until on February 20, 2010, a house / factory was completely destroyed due to heavy rains and all materials, products, machinery were lost. It was then that the pastry chef decided to end his 65 years of work, eventually retiring.
His son, doesn't wanted that the work of an intire life that his father created died, so he decided to rebuild and expand the house and make it unique and exclusively a larger factory. In 2017, the factory is named “A Doçaria” and focuses on making 13 varieties of candies (with Fennel and Eucalyptus being the typical candies of Madeira Island), of the most varied honey cakes shapes and weights (from the heart-shaped cakes to the Madeira Island-shaped cakes) and the 5 varieties of bread (honey, chestnut, butter, coconut and sand).
Now a days, A Doçaria favors the confection of all products in a handmade way so that the tradition of sweets and honey cakes is never lost or forgotten, even giving the opportunity to customers who pass by to see and even try the process of making the products.
